YMCA Sponsors Summer Food Service Program
The Jamestown YMCA is participating as a sponsor of the U.S. Agriculture Department’s Summer Food Service Program.
Starting July 1, the YMCA is offering free meals for children 18 and under. Food will be available at the various sites across Jamestown and surrounding communities Mondays through Fridays.
Parents/guardians and/or children can arrive to pick up a fully prepared, balanced meal. Food sites are available thanks to the YMCA’s partnership with the city of Jamestown, Frewsburg Parks and Recreation, Jamestown Public Schools, Prendergast Library, Falconer Central School and Hazeltine Public Library. Registration is available at www.jamestownymca.org/programs/summer-meal-program/. Pickup of grab and go breakfasts and lunches will be provided to any child at the following locations:
– Fenner Elementary (2 E Main St, Falconer): 11 to 11:30 a.m.
– Frewsburg Town Park (30 Parkway Drive, Frewsburg): noon to 12:30 p.m.
– Hazeltine Public Library (891 Busti Sugar Grove Road): 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
– Jackson Taylor Park (10th and Washington St., Jamestown) – 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The mission of the food program is to eliminate childhood hunger. Meals include food components such as grains, fruits and vegetables and proper servings to encourage healthy eating. Through the YMCA, kids are offered safe eating spaces and taught nutritional eating habits to help them learn and grow. The Jamestown YMCA will also provide enrichment for children 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Jackson Taylor and Lillian Dickson parks.
The Summer Food Service Program will extend until Aug. 30.
