Harmony Senior Citizens to meet July 2
Members of the Harmony Senior Citizens met recently for a tureen dinner with 40 members and one guest present. President June Whipple opened the meeting welcoming everyone. Cindy McIntyre recognized the following members celebrating birthdays in June, Dottie Enlow and Mary Sweeney. Carol and Tracy Parnell are celebrating their 24th anniversary. Members sang Happy Birthday to Dottie and Mary. McIntyre said she had sent cards to Dottie Enlow, Bonnie Abers, Cindy Miller and Bob Delahoy.
Mary Sweeney, co-cheer person, read “You Matter”, offered the dinner prayer and led the Salute to the Flag. Door prizes were won by Wendie Raynor, Dottie Enlow, Don Garfield, Bruce Coffaro and Dorothy Whipple.
Secretary Wendie Raynor read the minutes of the May meeting. The 50/50 drawing was held and won by June Whipple. Dottie Enlow held a Father’s Day drawing for all fathers at the meeting. Prizes were won by George Froman, Marion Coffaro, Rick Fiorenzo, Don Garfield and Donnie Keller. Tom Smith, former president of the group, was also given a prize, as was June Whipple, who is the current president. Enlow reviewed the procedures for the upcoming trip to the John Denver tribute in Warren. Attendees are to meet at 4:30 p.m. at New Beginnings in Sugar Grove for dinner.
The next meeting will be held July 2 at the Panama Methodist Church for a bag lunch. Dessert will be provided by Mary Lou Garfield, Ellen Coffaro, Sally Hagg and Karen Hurlburt. Toni Campbell, Activities person, said a representative from The First House, a shelter for women and their children, will present a program. Campbell reminded members to donate some items the shelter can use, like personal care items, pantry items, children’s items, placed in a tote bag for easier transport to First House. The meeting begins at noon. Hosts for the day are Cindy McIntyre and Peg Rowley.
The annual chicken barbeque will be held at the Aug. 6 meeting. The cost is $11 and reservations and payment must be made at the July meeting. Following the meeting, Ellen Coffaro gave a slide show and talk about her recent trip to Sweden.
