A Frewsburg man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for being in possession of child pornography.

U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced Friday that Jeffrey Paden, 57, was charged with receipt and possession of child pornography, which carry a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years in prison, and a maximum of 40 years.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron J. Mango, who is handling the case, stated that according to the indictment and previously filed complaint, the New York State Police received a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an individual in Frewsburg uploaded images of child pornography on the internet. A subsequent investigation traced the images to Paden, who is currently on federal supervised release following a 2015 conviction for possession of child pornography.

Paden was sentenced to serve 57 months in prison and ordered to register as a sex offender upon release. On Sept. 12, the FBI executed a search warrant on 12 electronic devices seized earlier in the investigation by the state police and recovered multiple images of child pornography.

Paden was arraigned Friday before U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder, Jr.

The indictment is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia, and the New York State Police, under the direction of Major Eugene Staniszewski.
