First Lutheran To Include Music At Easter Services
First Lutheran Church will have special music at both the 9 a.m. contemporary worship service and the 11 a.m. traditional worship service on Easter Sunday.
The 9 a.m. service will feature instrumental and vocal music both live and on video. The congregational songs will be led by the Sacred Fire Praise Team including “Christ is Risen” by M. Maher & M. Fields and “I Will Rise” by Giglio, Tomlin, Maher & Reeves. The service will include Easter music, Children’s time, scripture readings, Holy Communion and an Easter message by Pastor Daniel S. Rumfelt.
Child care is provided at both worship services. The Contemporary service will be video recorded and available on-line at Sacred Fire First Lutheran Jamestown Facebook page; First Lutheran Church Facebook page, and our church website www.flcjny.org. Kimberly King is the Worship Leader & Coordinator of Contemporary Worship with Sacred Fire Praise Team Members Kimberly King, Les King, Andrea Magnuson, Doug Anthony, Elaine Rissel, and Brenda Ecklund.
There will be a half hour of prelude music beginning at 10:30 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. Traditional Worship Service. Musical selections will include an organ selection “Piece Heroique” by Cesar Franck performed by Brian A. Bogey; a piano solo “Majesty” Arr. by Jerry Ray and played by Gail Espinoza; a vocal solo “The Holy City” by Stephen Adams sung by soprano soloist, Marika Koch; a piano/organ duet “Thine is the Glory” by George Handel/Arr. by Lani Smith with pianist Julie Livengood & organist Brian Bogey; The Good News Bell Choir performing “Carillon of Praise” by Cathy Moklebust and directed by Karen Linn; and a vocal solo entitled “Calvary’s Love” by Phil McHugh and sung by soprano soloist, Julie Costantini.
The 11 a.m. Traditional Worship Service with Holy Communion and Easter Sermon by Pastor Daniel S. Rumfelt, will include festive Easter hymns, “Jesus Christ is Risen Today,” “Christ the Lord is Risen Today, Alleluia,” and “Thine Is the Glory” accompanied by organ and brass. The First Lutheran Choir will sing two anthems “Christ the Lord is Ris’n Again” by Patricia Hurlbutt accompanied by organ and brass, and “What Joy! He Lives!” by Robert Wetzler. The organ postlude will be “Toccata” (from the “Fifth Symphony”) by Charles Marie Widor.
Worship participants at the 11 a.m. Traditional Worship Service will include the Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt, Pastor; Brian A. Bogey, Minister of Music and Organist; Al Johnson and Glenn Utter, Guest Trumpeters; Peter Larson, Liturgist; Fred Larson, Lector; Marika Koch, Hymn Cantor; and Jane Young, Videographer. This service will also be on our First Lutheran Church Jamestown, Facebook page, and on our church website www.flcjny.org. The public is cordially welcome to attend.
