The Reg Lenna Center for the Arts will screen the films ‘Spencer’ and ‘Nightmare Alley’ this week.

Spencer (Wednesday, Jan. 12, at 7 p.m.) is an imagining of what might have happened during a fateful royal holiday. The marriage of Princess Diana (Kristen Stewart) and Prince Charles has long since grown cold. Though rumors of affairs and a divorce abound, peace is ordained for the Christmas festivities at the Queen’s Sandringham Estate. There’s eating and drinking, shooting and hunting. Diana knows the game. But this year, things will be profoundly different. Spencer is rated R and is 117 minutes long.

Nightmare Alley (Saturday, Jan. 15, at 8 p.m.) – filmed partially in Buffalo – is Guillermo del Toro’s new drama. When charismatic but down-on-his-luck Stanton Carlisle (Bradley Cooper) endears himself to clairvoyant Zeena (Toni Collette) and her has-been mentalist husband Pete (David Strathairn) at a traveling carnival, he crafts a golden ticket to success, using this newly acquired knowledge to grift the wealthy elite of 1940s New York society. With the virtuous Molly (Rooney Mara) loyally by his side, Stanton plots to con a dangerous tycoon (Richard Jenkins) with the aid of a mysterious psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett) who might be his most formidable opponent yet. Nightmare Alley is rated R and is 150 minutes long.

Upcoming Movies at The Reg include: Lady Gaga in House of Gucci on Wednesday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m., Disney’s Encanto on Saturday, Jan. 22, at 4 p.m. and Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of West Side Story on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 8 p.m.

Tickets to Movies at The Reg are $7, with an additional $1 theater restoration fee added. Special engagement screenings are priced differently. They may be purchased from noon to 5p.m. Monday and Friday and noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, by calling 484-7070 and online at reglenna.com. Masks are required for all patrons regardless of vaccination status.
