Baskets Being Auctioned On St. Susan Center Facebook Page

Pictured is one of the baskets being given away as part of the St. Susan Basket Fair, held this year online via Facebook.

Today through Nov. 18, baskets will be auctioned off via the St. Susan Center Facebook page.

St. Susan Center typically holds its annual basket auction in March, but the basket fair was postponed in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Staff waited to hear that the restrictions would be lifted as the months went by, and while the staff waited baskets continued to be donated in anticipation. That prompted St. Susan Center officials to hold the basket fair online.

Starting today, baskets will be auctioned off on Facebook according to their category and the designated date. Anyone interested can visit the St. Susan Center Facebook page. Once a member, the baskets being auctioned off can be viewed by scrolling or by clicking on the photos. The details and instructions can be found in the About Tab. The auction end dates by category are Oct. 28, Nov. 4, Nov. 11 and Nov. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m.

For those wishing to participate by placing a one-time bid, contact the center at 664-2253 or email the office at secretary@stsusancenter.org. All baskets must be picked up within seven days of winning the bid.

There are more than 70 unique baskets and gift certificates, including baskets for campers, baskets for men and women, and fun baskets for children. Basket values range from $20 to more than $500. One basket contains a WiFi 32GB iPad donated by Cummins, an eight-person camping tent with eight sleeping bags, American Girl Doll 2020, and a Rasmus Dahlin Autographed Buffalo Sabres 50th Season jersey; with the certificate of authenticity included. The sponsor of the 2020 Basket Fair is Wegmans.

“Every basket and every gift certificate represents individuals, churches, businesses and organizations who have generously donated to help raise money for the soup kitchen. Our hope is that the community will support the businesses who have donated to St. Susan Center,” said Bonny Scott-Sleight, St. Susan Center executive director.
