The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Academy has awarded academy recruit Jakki Martin-Ahlbin with the Dan Feather Memorial Scholarship worth $1,000.

Martin-Ahlbin is attending the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Academy at Jamestown Community College. She is from Frewsburg, attended Bethel Baptist Christian Academy and graduated from both Jamestown Community College and the State University of New York College at Buffalo. Martin-Ahlbin was accepted into the Sheriff’s Academy in August 2019.

The Dan Feather Memorial Scholarship was created by Verna Feather and administered through the Community Foundation. Verna is the widow of Dan Feather, an 18-year veteran of the Jamestown Police Department. The recipient must be a Chautauqua County resident who is attending the Sheriff’s Academy and possesses qualities which reflect the professionalism and character that Feather demonstrated during his service as a police officer.

The scholarship to Martin-Ahlbin is the 22nd that has been awarded.

It is the hope of Mrs. Feather that the scholarship can be a lasting memorial to Dan Feather and also help those who are just starting out in the pursuit of a career in police work. The scholarship is administered through the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.
