City Public Market Has New Partnerships

The Jamestown Public Market announced it will again participate in the Double Up Food Bucks program, in partnership with the Field and Fork Network. The program is slated to begin Saturday during traditional public market hours.

Double Up Food Bucks is a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program that matches federal food assistance benefits $1 for $1 to increase affordability and access to fresh healthy foods for low-income consumers. The program also helps direct dollars to farmers who sell at farmers markets and to other food retail, ultimately strengthening our local food and agriculture economy. Double Up is a program of Field and Fork Network, a food and farming nonprofit organization based in Western New York.

In addition, July marks the start of a partnership with the Chautauqua Connections Children’s Coalition, bringing new activities to the market’s SPROUTs program.

On July 20, the Jamestown Public Market will collaborate with the second annual Whirlybird Music and Arts Festival to present the “Jamestown Public Market Street Festival.” The market will relocate for this weekend only to Third Street between Main and Pine as a part of the festival highlighting local musicians and creatives.

Admission will be free and all market programs, including the SPROUTs Club, will be operating. Additional vendors will be joining regular market vendors for a unique experience. For more information, visit whirlybirdmusicfestival.com.

Other events scheduled for July include live music from Mark Mincarellil, Russel & Hamels and Rebecca Mcilvain. Siri Thai Cuisine food truck returns July 27.

The Jamestown Public Market runs Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Jamestown. For more information on weekly events, live entertainment and vendors visit Jamestown Public Market on Facebook or jamestownrenaissance. org.
