Fairy House Event Set At Audubon

In celebration of its new festival, Dragons, Fairies, and Elves, Oh My!, the Audubon Community Nature Center is sponsoring a fairy house contest. Entries are to be delivered to Audubon on Sunday or Monday, June 9 or 10.

The Audubon Community Nature Center is sponsoring a fairy house contest as part of its Dragons, Fairies, and Elves, Oh My! event in late June.

The contest is open to ages five and up, in three age categories. Winners will be awarded prizes and have their houses on display at the festival.

The contest registration form found at AudubonCNC.org/DragonFairyFest explains that fairy houses can be dropped off at Audubon on Sunday and Monday, June 9 and 10. It also describes the basis for judging and the limitations on size and materials.

For help getting started, those who want to participate will find many pictures of fairy houses online as well as instructions for how to make one.

Dragons, fairies, and elves are just a few of the magical creatures that live in Audubon’s natural wonderland. At the event on Saturday, June 22, those attending can visit with some of them, dress up in costume, search for dragon eggs and take part in other festivities that include children’s archery, a dragon egg hunt, a costume booth and face painting. Food and drinks with a wonderland theme will be available.

The Audubon Community Nature Center is located at 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren.
