Lifeguarding Class Registration Open
The Jamestown YMCA has a few spots available for the lifeguarding class that begins Sunday.
The class will train and certify students in American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding, CPR-PR, First Aid and AED.
The Y will offer the class at the downtown branch starting Sunday from 9 a.m. 5 p.m. Classes continue Monday, Feb. 18, through Friday, Feb. 22, from noon to 6 p.m. Students must attend all classes.
Registration is ongoing and class size is limited. It will be the only certification class offered before June.
All participants will need to successfully complete the pre-test to be permitted to take the course.
The pre-test includes a 550-yard swim, recovering a brick, collecting submerged rings and treading water.
The pre-test will be the first part of class on Sunday.
Class size is limited. The cost for the class is $235 for YMCA members and $285 for potential members.
The class cost covers all supplies, materials and certification fees.
Upon successful completion of this class, students will be certified in American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding 2017, First Aid, CPR-PR and AED.
Students must be at least 15 years of age by the final day of class.
