Sinclairville Free Library To Debut New Books Today

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Sinclairville Free Library has added 71 new hardcover children’s picture books and juvenile fiction and nonfiction books from a Children’s Book Project Grant from The Pilcrow Foundation.

An additional 24 new juvenile math and science books were donated by Hal Berenson and Laura Ackerman of Colorado in conjunction with the Pilcrow Foundation grant. The grant, which is given on a two-to-one matching basis, supplies small rural libraries with new hardcover children’s books. The library’s contribution of $400 was raised by a Read-a-thon in January. The Pilcrow Foundation’s two-to-one matching grant enabled the library to select $1,200 worth of books from the foundation’s booklist.

The library will debut the new books from 2-7 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Refreshments will be provided by the library’s Board of Trustees.

The Pilcrow Foundation offers grants to small rural libraries in the country that would not otherwise be able to acquire these books because of limited budgets. The foundation relies heavily on individual donations. All contributions to the Pilcrow Foundation are tax-deductible. For information on donating to the foundation, write to The Pilcrow Foundation, 343 E. Washington Avenue, Cottage Grove, Oregon 97424.

Library officials also thanked those who made donations in support of the Read-a-thon, the Pilcrow Foundation, Hal Berenson and Laura Ackerman for making it possible to add the new books.
