Olean Chamber Of Commerce Announces Lunch & Learn Schedule

OLEAN — The Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce has announced its next Lunch & Learn workshop. Between September and May, the Chamber has arranged for six different speakers who will present on a variety of topics of interest to businesses.

The next workshop will feature Grandmaster Barry A. Broughton of AKT Combatives Academy who will teach self-defense for business people including hand techniques, kicks, stances, blocks, and many more reality-based techniques. The workshop is set for Feb. 23, noon-1 p.m. at the Chamber office, third floor training room. We encourage attendees to wear their normal business clothes to this as attendees will try the techniques.

“It doesn’t matter what you are or what you do for a living. You will learn hand techniques, kicks, stances, blocks, and many more reality-based techniques. This is a no-nonsense survival program that can and will save your life,” stated Grandmaster Broughton.

¯ Feb. 23, noon-1 p.m., Self Defense for Business People. Grandmaster Barry A. Broughton will teach self-defense including hand techniques, kicks, stances, blocks, and many more reality-based techniques.

¯ March 2, noon-1 p.m., Gas + Supply = Electric $ workshop by Kevin Clough, EnergyMark. Kevin will give an overview of local gas supply and its effect on electric pricing and your business.

¯ March 21, noon-1 p.m., workshop by Tyler Threehouse, Esq., partner at Reisner Law Group Most business owners are focused on running their business, rather than planning for its succession. Topics covered will include personal estate planning, Asset Protection Trusts, business planning and protection of your legacy.

¯ April 6, noon-1 p.m., Cyber Security. Greg Lindberg of the U.S. Small Business Administration will present on defining cyber security; explaining the importance of securing information through best cyber security practices; identifying types of info that should be secured; identifying the types of cyber threats; defining risk management; and listing best practices for guarding against cyber threats.

¯ May 16, noon-1 p.m., Data Security/ Business Continuity. Adam Jester of Southern Tier Technical Services will discuss projecting data.

The seminars are held at the Chamber’s office, 301 N. Union St., and are free for members to attend. Non-members must pay a $10 admission fee.
