G.A. Family Services is once again partnering with Ecklof Bakery to raise money and awareness during National Foster Care Month.
Through May 15, heart-shaped sugar cookies will be on sale at the bakery daily on a first-come, first-served basis with partial proceeds benefiting G.A.’s foster care program.
Ecklof’s Bakery has been supporting National Foster Care month with this partnership for more than 10 years. Chad Ecklof, owner and operator of Ecklof Bakery, is proud to keep this traditional going for the Jamestown community and G.A. Family Services.
National Foster Care Month occurs each May and is an opportunity to acknowledge foster parents, foster youth, family members, volunteers, mentors, policymakers, child welfare professionals, and other members of the community who help children in foster care live fulfilling lives and find permanent homes and connections. There are more than 391,000 children in foster care across the country.
“The cookie sale is an exciting way to engage the community, and also raise awareness for foster care,” said Ericka Garcia-Allison, executive director for G.A. Family Services. “There are so many awe inspiring people and businesses in this county that help by fostering, adopting, and supporting youth and families in need. We are so thankful for them everyday.”
Community members interested in participating can visit Ecklof Bakery at 832 Foote Avenue in Jamestown to purchase cookies individually or by the dozen. Anyone in need of a large order is encouraged to pre-order by calling ahead to 716-488-1516. To learn more about G.A. Family Services, visit www.gafamilyservices.org or call 716-708-6161.
