Community Music Project Kicks Off Season

The Community Music Project is beginning its 2016-17 season.

The Chautauqua Chamber Singers and the Jamestown Choral Society have been planning their 2016-17 season, which begins Nov. 6 at St. James Church with the groups’ memorial concert entitled “A Farewell,” songs that reflect the importance of All Saints Day. On Jan. 7-8, the Chamber Singers will continue the tradition of their 12th Night Concert. The concert will be presented in Jamestown at First Presbyterian Church as well as in Warren at First Lutheran Church. On March 26, the Jamestown Choral Society will present a concert of ‘Celestial Songs’ at Christ First United Methodist Church. Finishing the Community Music Project season will be a Chamber Singers concert entitled “A Choral Treasure- Alice Parker- Arranger/Composer Folk Songs and Spirituals” on May 7. Many of the chamber singers sang with Alice Parker at Chautauqua Institution this summer and Community Music Project officials decided to create a program based on Parker’s work.
