HEAP Program Opens Nov. 17
MAYVILLE – The Home Energy Assistance Program is designed to help eligible low-income households with their heating or heat-related energy costs. The Regular HEAP program will open on Monday, Nov. 17. Regular HEAP heating benefits range from $350 to $625 depending upon household income and type of heating and heat included benefits range from $21 to $35.
Applications can be submitted online at www.mybenefits.ny.gov. This is the quickest and most efficient method for submitting your application. There is no need to come into the office as an interview will be conducted over the phone and documents can be submitted electronically or mailed in. Applications can also be mailed to The Chautauqua County Department of Health & Human Services, 7 N. Erie St., Mayville, NY 14757 or can be submitted in person at the South County Office Building, 110 E. Fourth St., Jamestown, or 319 Central Ave., Dunkirk. The Heating Equipment Repair/Replacement Program is intended to provide assistance to homeowner’s with repairing or replacing essential primary home heating equipment. The Heating Equipment Repair/Replacement Program opens on Monday, Nov. 10. Applicants for this program must be interviewed and submit applications in person to either the Jamestown or Dunkirk locations. Eligibility must be determined and approved by the Department of Health and Human Services prior to any work being done on the heating equipment. The Emergency HEAP program provides benefits necessary to prevent termination or restore service for eligible households who have an energy-related emergency. The emergency program is scheduled to open on Friday, Jan. 2. These benefits are available in addition to regular HEAP benefits for eligible households.
