Hillcrest AWANA Program Ends Year With Ceremony

The AWANA program at Hillcrest Baptist Church recently concluded their 2013-14 ministry year recognizing the achievements of children in the Sparks and Truth and Training clubs. The May 14 ceremony included presentations by club members, recognition of the volunteer staff and presentation of awards.

Ben Livingston earned the Timothy Trophy, the top award in the T&T program for children in grades 3-6. The Timothy Trophy requires completion of all four T&T handbooks which includes memorization of 430 Bible verses, service projects and written assignments.

Eli Olejniczak earned the Challenge Award for completion of Book 3. Ethan Livingston, Abby Roof, Joshua Tonkin and Jonah Tonkin received the Excellence Award for completing Book 2. Michael Bennett, Hannah Bigelow and Megan Cotter earned the Alpha Award for completion of Book 1.

Hannah Benson, Calvin Hilliker and Mackenzie Martin received the Sparky Award, the top award in the Sparks program for children in kindergarten to second grade. These children completed all three Sparks handbooks in three years which includes memorization of 150 Bible verses, reciting the books of the Old and New Testament and missionary projects.

Olivia Beach, Caleb Costner, Sam Livingston, Mackenzie Martin, Hannah Seeley and Ashley Smith earned their Sparks Book 2 award. Matthew Bigelow, Joshua Costner, Lauren Cotter, Mallory Dahlgren, Allison Latona, Leah Olejniczak, Logan Quattrone, Faith Seeley, Hannah Seeley, Seth Smart and Elora Watkins received their Book 1 award.

AWANA is an international program that helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth. Hillcrest’s AWANA Clubs are offered for children age three to sixth grade and meet on Wednesday evenings, September to May.
