Sinclairville Library To Host Poetry Class

SINCLAIRVILLE – The Sinclairville Library will host a poetry class and workshop from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, . John Brantingham, professor emeritus of creative writing, will lead a free poetry class and workshop. Brantingham will help those attending write poetry and publish it in magazines. Students have published in The New Yorker, McSweeneys, and The Paris Review among other places. The class is free. The class will be followed by a poetry reading with poet John Wheway at 6 p.m.. Red Cross Sets Blood Drives At Chautauqua Mall

LAKEWOOD – The American Red Cross will host blood drives at the Chautauqua Mall, 318 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood. Drives will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 10 and Dec. 15 as well as from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 30. To make an appointment or for more information, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App. visit RedCrossBlood.org. call 1-800-733-2767 or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed 1o ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 16 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Parenting Classes To Begin In January

Prevention Works will launch several new Triple P – Positive Parenting Program support groups in January for parents of children between the ages of 0 and 12. The program is currently offered at multiple locations through strong collaborations with community partners, including the Mental Health Association in Jamestown, UCAN City Mission, the Chautauqua County Department of Probation, and several local school districts. Groups will now meet at Prevention Works’ Falconer office, 1 E. Main St., with evening sessions running from 5 to 7 p.m. and will include a hybrid option for participants who are unable to attend in person. Meetings will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 1, 14, 21 and 28. There is no cost. Harbor Hotel Fire & Ice Celebration Is In February

CELORON – The Harbor Hotel Collection has announced dates for its Fire & Ice Celebration events, returning to its waterfront hotels in Celoron, Clayton, and Watkins Glen, in early 2026. The Fire & Ice Celebration at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel in Celoron will take place Feb. 12-14. A portion of proceeds to benefit The Child Advocacy Program of Chautauqua County.
