Cleaner And Greener

FALCONER – Falconer residents are encouraged to show their community pride Saturday by helping clean and spruce up the village during its 21th Annual Pride Day.

Residents wishing to take part in the cleanup should report at 9 a.m. to the Falconer Fire Hall on Davis Street where they will be split up into groups and begin the cleanup effort.

They will be cleaning up Davis Park, the Village Park, Coleson Park, Mill Race Park and selected streets.

Participants are requested to bring rakes, gloves and any other cleanup tools they think they will need.

After the cleanup is complete at about 11 a.m., the workers will receive a complimentary lunch at the Fire Hall. The Fire Department Auxiliary and a number of organizations will sponsor the lunch.

The Beautification Committee also plans to involve other organizations including Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, teachers from Falconer Central School, Civil Air Patrol and church groups.

The committee is hoping for a good turnout of local residents. The Pride Day will take place rain or shine.

If the residents are not able to participate, they are urged to inspect their own property. Sand and twigs remaining in their yards and driveways can be placed in garbage bags and brought to the Fire Hall where a dumpster will be available.

The dumpsters will be available from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday.

Attorney Robert Van Every, representing the Falconer Lions Club, chairs the Falconer Pride Day this year.

Dr. Patricia Fales is the chairperson of the Village Beautification Committee. Other members of the committee are Maurice Roach, Francelia Skoglund and Geraldine Yauchzy. DeEtte Dispenza represents the Falconer Village Board and Sam Ognibene represents the Falconer Public Works Department.

Starting at $3.50/week.
