Southern Tier Wrestling is about to put the capper on its 2017 campaign with another downtown Jamestown event this weekend.

On Saturday, the locally owned wrestling company will present “Rise of the Cobra,” its final event for the calendar year, at Northwest Arena on Saturday from 2:30-5 p.m.

“Rise of the Cobra” is the third Southern Tier Wrestling event to be held at Northwest Arena in the company’s less than two years of operation. Jon Osterdahl, co-promoter and head writer for Southern Tier Wrestling, said the arena is one of Jamestown area’s premier venues for wrestling events such as these.

“The arena has become kind of a home for Southern Tier Wrestling,” Osterdahl said. “They always treat us very well, and we always get a good turnout. The last time we came through there we had about 800 people show up, which is incredible. I think Jamestown is really enjoying what we’re putting on for them; our numbers are trending in the right direction and we’ve been getting bigger and better crowds for every event.”

Saturday’s event will feature a number of live pro-wrestling matchups between several current and rising stars in the independent and professional wrestling circuits. Among the more notable appearances are: former WWE superstar Santino Marella, who will make a special guest appearance and sign autographs; “Big Time” Bill Collier, who will be defending his heavyweight title; and Rico Cruz.

Also featured will be matchups between: J-Rocc and Asylum; Ezra Elwood and Cyclone Jones; and Brandon Thurston & The Patron Saints of Professional Wrestling versus Vince Valor, Vinnie Moon, James Sayga and Daniel Garcia. Another bout for the tag-team championship will be held between The Divine Alliance and defending champs The Homewreckers in Southern Tier Wrestling’s first-ever table match, in which the first team to put their opponent through a table will win.

Also available are VIP tickets for $30, which include front-row seating and a one-of-a-kind Southern Tier Wrestling 8×10-inch photo signed by Marella.
