City comprehensive plan released

The city of Jamestown has been working to develop their Comprehensive Plan over the last few years, and this past week the official plan was presented to the Planning Commission. A long awaited housing project in Westfield has yet to begin, but one county leader believes it will start before the end of the year. Savarino Companies has proposed converting the former CE Welch building into apartments and commercial space. The project was originally to be done by 2 Portage, LLC. County says AI creating overload of FOIL requests

Artificial Intelligence programs are being blamed as the culprit for Chautauqua County needing to increase staffing in its law department. The Chautauqua County Legislature’s Administrative Services Committee has backed a request from the county Law Department to hire an additional paralegal. The law department is seeking an additional $105,982 for its budget, which will come from the county’s reserves. Of that amount, $53,594 will be for a new paralegal and $52,388 will cover a budgetary error for 2026. County Attorney Emily Woodard discussed the request during the committee ...

Falconer Christmas events may be one-day festival

The village of Falconer may be getting a little bit jollier this December. Nikki Pierce, a member of the Falconer Village Board, said during a recent meeting she had met with Ron Caldwell, organizer of the Falconer Christmas Association, to talk about planning a Christmas festival. Pierce said the event being discussed could incorporate all of the traditional Falconer Christmas activities that have been planned in the past into a one-day event tentatively scheduled for Dec. 5.
