County Reports 90 New COVID Cases In One Day

The Chautauqua County Health Department on Friday reported 90 new COVID cases. And for the third straight day, active cases, those with the virus in the hospital and people in quarantine all rose. Of the new cases reported, from information collected Thursday, 32 came from the Jamestown zip code; 12 from Fredonia; 11 from Dunkirk; six from Falconer; four each from Forestville, Silver Creek and Bemus Point; and three each from Westfield, Lakewood and Kennedy. Since the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has granted full approval this week for the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for people 16 years of age and older, students at the State University of New York at Fredonia and Jamestown Community College will officially be required to get the vaccine.
