County Reports 90 New COVID Cases In One Day
The Chautauqua County Health Department on Friday reported 90 new COVID cases. And for the third straight day, active cases, those with the virus in the hospital and people in quarantine all rose.
Of the new cases reported, from information collected Thursday, 32 came from the Jamestown zip code; 12 from Fredonia; 11 from Dunkirk; six from Falconer; four each from Forestville, Silver Creek and Bemus Point; and three each from Westfield, Lakewood and Kennedy. Other municipalities also reported one or two new cases.
There are currently 251 active cases, 13 people hospitalized and 376 in quarantine. Since Monday, active cases have risen by 64, hospitalizations by six and people in quarantine by 83.
In addition to 90 new cases, the county also reported another new virus-related death.
Since Aug. 1, there have been 545 new cases confirmed locally. According to the health department, 64% involve those not vaccinated; 16% fully vaccinated; 4% partially vaccinated; and 16% whose vaccination status is not known.
There have been 9,889 confirmed cases to date, 9,476 recoveries and 162 virus-related deaths.
Regarding vaccinations, 60.4% of the county’s population over the age of 12 have received at least one dose of the vaccine; 55.5% have been fully vaccinated.
