Carlson’s Walk-Off Single Lifts Bears

FREWSBURG — Ashley Carlson’s two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Frewsburg to a 6-5 non-league softball victory over Forestville on Friday.

Peyton Yost led off the inning with a double and came around to score on Carlson’s base hit up the middle.

The victory raised the Bears’ record to 6-9 heading into their Section VI Class D quarterfinal game at Panama on Monday.

Kiah Johnson, winning pitcher MaKena Adams, Reagan Chitester and Riley Chitester each had two hits for the winners, highlighted by Johnson and Adams belting back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning. Riley Chitester also had a two-run single in that inning.

Adams was the winning pitcher, working 5ª innings, striking out 10, walking one and scattering four hits, three of them by the Lady Hornets’ CeCe Eagan.

Brooke Ostrye took the loss for Forestville (10-5), which turned a triple play to end the first inning.
