A fire above an oven at Farm Fresh Foods was quickly doused by Jamestown firefighters late Thursday.

The fire was reported around 10:30 p.m. at the 703 W. Third St. grocery store. Firefighters used its ladder truck to climb onto the building’s roof to search the area.

One of the overnight employees said they heard cracklings above the store’s walk-in oven when they saw flames near the ceiling. The employees called 911 and evacuated the store.

No injuries were reported.

A fire investigator was summoned to the scene. The exact cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known late Thursday.

The road around the grocery store was closed to traffic.
