U.S. Rep. Tom Reed, R-Corning, has widened his lead over challenger Tracy Mitrano in the 23rd Congressional District race as of 10:30 p.m.

With 129 of 526 precincts reporting, Reed has a 60.16% to 38.72% edge over Mitrano. Early voting in Tompkins County threw a scare into Republicans early Tuesday night, as Mitrano received 11,716 votes in Tompkins County (86.52%) compared to Reed’s 1,536 votes (11.34%), propelling Mitrano to a 10 percentage point lead shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday. By 10 p.m. that lead had evaporated.

In Chautauqua County, with all districts reporting, Reed has 30,014 votes (66.73%) compared to Mitrano’s 14,368 (31.95%).
