Chance of rain today and air quality conditions from the wildfires have forced postponements and/or cancellations of several local sporting events this weekend. They include Friday’s Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game pitting Jamestown against Newark; today’s Bemus Point 3-on-3 basketball tournament; and tonight’s racing, including the Modified Mafia Tour, at Stateline Speedway. CITY REC BASEBALL The Affinity One Credit Union Blue Jays advanced to the championship game by holding off the Mets 14-11. Leading the way for the Blue Jays were Alex Erickson (triple and double) with three hits, and Maddie Martin and Josephine Satterlee with two apiece. For the Mets, Josiah Tapia (two doubles) and Dakota Newbree (triple and double) contributed three hits each. The Blue Jays are now 17-1 and will play in the championship game at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Trap leagues

Celoron topped Ellington 342-334 and Randolph edged Busti 336-335 in the Chautauqua County Trap League. Perfect 50s were scored by Jon Shelton, Jeff Gens, Alex Kahle and Scott Sieber.
