Swabik takes 20th in decathlon at nationals

EUGENE, Ore. — The University of Kansas’ John Swabik’s dream for a national title came to an end Thursday. The 2019 Sherman Central School graduate finished 20th in the men’s decathlon with 6,587 points at the 2026 NCAA Championships at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field. Swabik entered Day 2 of competition with 3,002 points after being disqualified from Wednesday’s final event, the 400 meters. The 2019 NYSPHSAA Division 2 pentathlon champion opened Thursday’s action with a time of 15.23 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, good for 16th among the 24 competitors ...
