Falconer Softball Posts Win

FALCONER — Hannah Melquist had two hits, including a double, and drove in a pair of runs as Falconer topped Portville 3-1 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 4 softball Wednesday at Ernie Strickland Field.

Emily Rhinehart tossed a complete-game six-hitter with nine strikeouts and two walks while also contributing two hits offensively for the Golden Falcons (3-0, 1-0). Emily Zaranek chipped in two hits, including a double.

Alexa Schoonover had three hits while Ella Warters tossed a complete game with six strikeouts for the Panthers (0-2, 0-2).

WEST SENECA EAST PULLS AWAY

WEST SENECA — Dunkirk hung with West Seneca East through a pair of scoreless innings, but the Trojans scored 10 runs in the bottom of the third inning and beat the Marauders 14-0 in nonleague softball Wednesday.

Kaylee Dusza threw a no-hitter for the hosts, striking out nine and walking three. Cameron Skalski was 3 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI; Ashlee Chriss was 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a run scored; Leilani Coleman was 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored; and Molly Maier was 2 for 2 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored for West Seneca East (1-3).

Maria Dolce, Gabriella Grann and Eliza Bautista drew the free passes for Dunkirk, which fell to 1-3 overall.
