Jadyn Trocki had a hand in just about everything Frewsburg did in Saturday’s Section VI Class C final.
It ended with her hands on a championship plaque.
The Bears junior had 20 points, 10 assists, six blocked shots, four rebounds and two steals as No. 1 Frewsburg beat No. 3 Wilson 53-33 at Jamestown Community College’s Physical Education Complex.
The Bears’ title – their third straight and fourth in the past five seasons – sends them into next Saturday’s 7:45 p.m. Far West Regional at Finger Lakes Community College. The Rochester area will decide its representative Tuesday when C1 champion Canisteo-Greenwood takes on C2 champion Keshequa.
Jaden Jimerson scored 8 of her 17 points for the Bears in a 16-8 first quarter, but the Lakewomen played a fairly even second quarter that saw them trailing by 11 at halftime.
After Wilson’s Abbie Faery scored the first basket of the third quarter to make it a nine-point game, Frewsburg went on a run to put the game away.
Trocki hit a 3-pointer and followed with an assist to Jimerson before Jimerson and Lucy Moore hit free throws to make it 37-21.
Jimerson then found Trocki for a layup to make it an 18-point game with 4:47 left in the third quarter. Eight of the nine points came off Wilson turnovers.
Frewsburg entered the fourth quarter with a 17-point lead and Trocki put an exclamation point on her day with a pair of assists to Harvey, one to Jimerson and one to Moore before blocking a shot. All told, Trocki assisted on 10 of the other Bears’ 14 field goals made while she was in the game.
