Eagles Sweep Randolph In ‘C’

MAYVILLE — No. 4 Chautauqua Lake got off to a fast start and then held off No. 13 Randolph to win in three games, 25-12, 25-23, 25-24, in a Section VI Class C prequarterfinal volleyball match Tuesday.

Leading the way for the Eagles, who will host No. 12 Akron in the quarterfinals Thursday, was Kinslee Motter with 11 kills, four assists, three digs and three blocks. Brina Jacobson added 10 kills and six digs; Janine Group contributed eight kills, one dig and one assist; and Alice Scarpine chipped in two kills, four aces and 11 digs.

For the Cardinals, Piper Chase collected 14 assists, four digs and one block; Addyson Shawley contributed seven kills, two digs and one block; Ryanne Bushey had five kills and 10 digs; and Tessa Brown chipped in eight digs and one assist.

LACKI, DEBO SHINE

SINCLAIRVILLE — A pair of freshmen put on a serving clinic to highlight No. 5 Cassadaga Valley’s 25-9, 25-12, 25-13 victory over No. 12 Holland in a Class D prequarterfinal.

Kailee Lacki collected 20 straight service points in the first game, including 10 aces, and Maddie Debo recorded 10 service points, including the last nine straight to end the match. She also added seven digs and two aces. Alexis Pattyson chipped in eight kills and one block; and Melanie Miles contributed nine assists.

The Cougars will play at No. 4 Maple Grove in the quarterfinals Thursday.

SHERMAN ADVANCES

SHERMAN — Behind two aces, eight kills and three digs from Emmersen Crawford, No. 7 Sherman defeated No. 10 Forestville 25-23, 25-9, 19-25, 25-16 in a Class D prequarterfinal.

Madison Emory added six aces, two kills and two digs; Carlie Gable had two aces, one kill and six digs; and Jayne Chambers collected four kills and two blocks.

For the Hornets, Iris Muck had two kills, six blocks, one dig and one assist; Elizabeth Case added six aces, one block, three digs and five assists; and Emily Lillie had five digs.

The Wildcats will travel to No. 2 Westfield on Thursday in the quarterfinals.

FALCONER BREEZES

FALCONER — No. 3 Falconer had little trouble advancing, downing No. 14 Tapestry 25-9, 25-8, 25-7 in a Class C prequarterfinal.

Hannah Melquist led the way for the Golden Falcons with 10 kills and five aces. Also contributing to the winning effort were Reagan Trask (26 assists), Kaylee Green (nine kills), Mylie Zaranek (eight kills, five digs) and Nylah Sharpe (five digs, four aces).

The victory advances Falconer into the quarterfinals against No. 6 Gowanda Thursday.

BALANCE PACES DRAGONS

ELLERY — A balanced attack propelled No. 4 Maple Grove to a 25-9, 25-16, 25-17 victory over No. 13 West Valley/Franklinville in a Class D prequarterfinal match.

Rylee King collected six kills and one block; Meg Ryan seven kills, one block and three aces; Mady Haglund 20 assists and two aces; Zoey Foley five kills, 16 digs and six aces; Baley Godfrey nine digs; Kendall Danielson five aces; and Annie Steffen four kills and one ace.

For West Valley/Franklinville, Payton Ehnes had three assists and one dig; Abria Benjamin four digs and one ace; Mackenzie Chase three kills, two blocks, six digs and one ace; and Jersie Czapla four digs.

Maple Grove will host No. 5 Cassadaga Valley in a Thursday quarterfinal.

WARRIORS SWEEP

SALAMANCA — No. 8 Salamanca swept No. 9 Medina 25-17, 25-19, 25-14 in a Class B2 prequarterfinal.

Thia Chudy collected six aces, three kills and four assists; McKenzie Crouse had seven aces; and Joella Jimerson chipped in six assists.

The Warriors will meet No. 1 Olmsted in the quarterfinals Thursday.

DUNKIRK MOVES ON

DUNKIRK — No. 8 Dunkirk advanced with a 25-21, 25-22, 25-16 victory over No. 9 CSAT in a Class A2 prequarterfinal.

Ryleigh Donato contributed eight kills and two aces; Kelsey Lancaster had 12 assists; and freshman Jessica Maines had five aces and two kills for the winners, who will meet No. 1 Pioneer in the quarterfinals Thursday.

SPILLER LEADS BULLDOGS

BROCTON — Zoe Spiller had 10 kills, five aces and a dig as No. 8 Brocton beat No. 9 North Collins 25-11, 25-13, 25-7 in a Class D prequarterfinal.

Evie Morrison had four aces, an assist, six kills and four digs; Sha’Nah Adams had three aces, 20 assists and a block; and Grace Lundine had three aces, an assist and 10 digs for the Bulldogs.

Brocton will travel to No. 1 Clymer for a Thursday quarterfinal.

MAINES, JOHN LEAD GOWANDA

GOWANDA — Bella Maines handed out 24 assists and Corrina John had 10 kills as No. 6 Gowanda swept No. 11 Cleveland Hill 25-15, 25-10, 25-17 in a Class C prequarterfinal.

Addison Kota had nine kills and eight digs; John had eight aces and four blocks; and Aubrey Smuda had six digs and two aces for the Panthers.

Gowanda will travel to No. 3 Falconer for a Thursday quarterfinal.

WHITMER HAS BIG NIGHT

ELLICOTTVILLE — Riley Whitmer had 11 kills, 14 digs, a block and two aces to lead No. 6 Ellicottville to a 25-13, 25-22, 25-13 Class D prequarterfinal sweep of No. 11 Pine Valley.

Ande Northrup had three kills, 19 assists, six digs and two aces; Izzy Coburn had four kills, six digs and four aces; and Faith Burlingame had 10 digs and an ace for the Eagles.

Ellicottville will travel to No. 3 Panama for a Thursday quarterfinal.
