Fredonia Sweeps Allegany-Limestone; Bodamer Records 300th Career Strikeout

ALLEGANY — Danielle Palisin tossed a two-hitter in the first game and scattered six hits in the nightcap to send Fredonia to 9-0 and 5-1 five-inning victories over Allegany-Limestone in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 softball action Thursday.

Palisin struck out seven and didn’t issue a walk in the opener, and she helped her own cause with two hits. Also collecting two hits for the Hillbillies were Ava Muck, Naomi Muck and Rihanna Benner (double). Cassie Cramer added a triple to the winning effort.

In the second game, Palisin fanned seven, walked two and didn’t allow an earned run as Fredonia raised its record to 7-0 in the division and 9-3 overall.

Offensively, the Hillbillies were led by Palisin (double) and Anna Delcamp (three RBIs) with two hits apiece, and Mikaylee Valiya added a pinch-hit single.

EAGLES FINISH SWEEP

MAYVILLE — Clymer/Sherman junior Elli Bodamer recorded her 300th career strikeout, but Chautauqua Lake handed the Wolves a pair of 3-2 losses in Division 2 action.

In the extra-innings completion of a game started last Thursday, the Eagles (7-3, 5-1) scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning and held the Wolves (6-2, 4-2) to just one run in the bottom of the frame.

Bodamer tossed a six-hitter with 11 strikeouts and eight walks.

Janelle Burchanowski had an RBI double in the first inning while Kiera Kinal went 2 for 4.

Makennah Ryberg had an RBI single, Cayzlee Johnson had an RBI single and Kinslee Motter walked to force in a run for Chautauqua Lake.

Johnson tossed a six-hitter with 13 strikeouts and one walk.

In Thursday’s regularly-scheduled game, Alice Scarpine hit an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning to send Chautauqua Lake to a 3-2 win.

Bodamer had RBI singles in the first and sixth innings for Clymer/Sherman.

Karagan Fairbank had an RBI single in the second inning and Ryberg had an RBI groundout in the sixth inning for the Eagles.

Johnson threw a six-hitter with 10 strikeouts and one walk while Bodamer threw a seven-hitter with six strikeouts and three walks.

Bodamer was also 3 for 3 at the plate and Scarpine was 3 for 4.

HORNETS REBOUND AGAINST SILVER CREEK

FORESTVILLE — Forestville improved to 9-1 overall and 6-1 in Division 3 following a 9-1 victory over Silver Creek.

Winning pitcher Megan Gruber scattered four hits and struck out eight, and helped her own cause with a two-run single and a double. Emily Lillie added three hits, and Madison Christian (RBI) and Carilene Sliwa (double) both collected two.

The Hornets led 3-1 until the bottom of the fifth when they scored three runs to put the game away.

Maddi Hein had a double for the Black Knights (7-3, 6-2).

RED DRAGONS WIN WILD ONE

BEMUS POINT — Maple Grove/Panama scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the eighth inning to earn a 12-11 walk-off Division 2 win over Westfield.

The Red Dragons (5-4, 3-3) took a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning on a Jessica Lyon RBI groundout and Meg Ryan’s two-run single.

Eva Gnadzinski then hit a two-run double in the top of the seventh to give the Wolverines (5-5, 4-3) a 7-6 lead.

Maple Grove/Panama tied the game on an error in the bottom of the seventh.

Westfield scored four runs in the top of the eighth. Avery Smith walked and scored on a sacrifice fly by Madyson Burgess before Gnadzinski hit a three-run home run to center field to make it 11-7.

The biggest hit of the Red Dragons’ bottom of the eighth was Savannah Weart’s two-run double. The winning run scored on an error.

Weart went 2 for 5 with three RBIs; Ryan was 3 for 5; and Megan McGee walked three times for Maple Grove/Panama.

Gnadzinski, Sydney Hotchkiss, Molly Burgess and Mackenzie Schumaker each had two hits for Westfield.

COUGARS TOP FREWSBURG

SINCLAIRVILLE — Katie Russell tossed a five-hitter, and Denza Farnara, Chloe Lundberg and Faith McVey led the offense with two hits apiece to lead Cassadaga Valley to a 7-3 victory over Frewsburg in a Division 2 game.

Fanara drove in a pair of runs; Anna Burlingame smacked a double and drove in a run; and Emiley Anderson and Jordynn Main both had two RBIs for the Cougars (4-4, 3-3).

Marleigh Stappenbeck had two hits for the Bears (0-9, 0-7). Losing pitcher Teagan Nazario struck out 11.

TROJANS POUND OUT 20 HITS

Addison Shaw, Kate Casel and Alexis Beckerink each had four of Southwestern’s 20 hits in a 13-5 Division 1 defeat of Jamestown at the Martin Road Athletic Complex.

Shaw doubled, drove in three runs and scored twice; Casel drove in two runs and scored three times; and Beckerink scored twice and drove in a run for the Trojans (4-4, 4-3). Siri DuBois was 2 for 5 with three RBIs; Madelyn Burnett had two hits, including a double; and Arianna Silakowski doubled in the win.

Burnett tossed a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts and six walks in the circle.

Raegan Powers and Kendall Hughes each had a single while Kaylee Keppel struck out two and walked two for the Red & Green (4-6, 2-4).

KOTA, BROWNING POWER GOWANDA

BROCTON — Addison Kota and Holland Browning each had two hits, including a home run, as Gowanda beat Brocton 7-5 in Division 3 play.

Sophie Bobseine added two hits and two RBIs; Helena Wallschlaeger had two hits; Jenna Luther had an RBI and Lauren Kelly singled for the Panthers (7-5, 4-4). Gracie Eddy and Kota combined for nine strikeouts in the circle.

Joleena Doner had a single, three RBIs and a stolen base; Paige Miller had two hits, including a double, and two RBIs; and Colie Bundy and Zoe Spiller added singles for the Bulldogs (0-9, 0-7). Nevaeh Hebner struck out four in the circle.

PORTVILLE TAKES DOWN FALCONER

PORTVILLE — Bella Morales went 3 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored to lead Portville past Falconer 11-4 in Division 4 action.

Alexa Schoonover was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored; Peyton Young was 2 for 4 with two RBIs; and Lauren Lyle was 2 for 4 with a run scored for the Panthers (5-5, 4-3). Morales tossed a complete-game seven-hitter with a strikeout and two walks.

Mylie Zaranek and Emily Zaranek each had two hits, including a double, and a run scored. Augustine Krenzer singled twice and drove in a run. Nylah Sharpe struck out one and walked three in the circle for the Golden Falcons (8-2, 5-2).
