Curling Leagues

Week 2 of the Dot’s Boutique Northwest Arena Backyard Curling Winter League is officially in the books, with all teams competing.

BUD LIGHT MONDAY

5:45 LEAGUE

Shoeless Joe’s Pub is already the lone unbeaten after two weeks in this time slot. Joe and Theresa Jackson have them atop the league after defeating Gren’s Growlers 42-24 and Fruit of the Brooms 29-26.

Cold as Ice isn’t far behind thanks to Bob and Michelle Ricker. They got the offense churning in a pair of wins versus Curling Me Softly 40-27 and Gren’s Growlers 40-38.

The Jimmy Shimmy’s rebounded nicely after a tough opening night. Mark Moll and Jim Hale have the squad back on track by taking down TRCurlers 52-34 and War Vets 43-40.

Pam Schrecongost and Nan Welker combined forces so Ba Na Ma Na could sneak by Sloppy Penguins 41-36.

Frank Fuller paved the way in Fruit of the Brooms’ 41-28 win over The Rolling Stones.

Bill Breen and War Vets iced Had a Few 43-40 thanks to 10 points in the final end.

Amy Youngberg and Had a Few pulled off a close call the next time out, 36-33 topping Always Late.

Austin Mitchell and TRCurlers stormed back and ambushed Sloppy Penguins 35-34.

The first overtime victory of the week went to Curling Me Softly. Chris Hackett called his shot in the extra end which lifted them past Always Late 36-35.

Lauren Lapinski and The Rolling Stones rounded things out with their 41-36 conquest of Stones 2.0.

BUD LIGHT MONDAY

6:45 LEAGUE

Eric Anderson and Ice Holes comfortably stayed perfect by writing off Rock Slide 29-21 and Cheese Curls 34-15.

Doug Justham and David Ruby have Frosty Curlers in the mix for first place. After shutting down Lakeshore East 44-25, they escaped Pickle Pushers 30-29.

Terry Stronz catapulted Sour Pickles to monumental victories over Rowers on Ice 50-16 and Snow Good at This 43-35.

Stark Gravel looked polished behind Stacy Felton. She didn’t miss a beat versus Tree Huggers 43-27 and Rowers on Ice 43-28.

Elsewhere, Rock Slide held off Sip n’ Sliders 23-19 with key defense from Janet Jaspersen.

Ann Hammond corralled her Sip n’ Sliders to breeze by Lakeshore East 34-21 in the second slate.

Tree Huggers found a way to beat Cheese Curls 17-14 thanks to a hot start from Dave Southwick.

Sherry Matteson and Pickle Pushers came out on top against Snow Good at This 35-33 in a back-and-forth affair.

STEVE CHAMBERS/JAMESTOWN HONDA WEDNESDAY 5:30 LEAGUE

In-Laws Rock kicked things into high gear and claimed first place through two weeks. The father-son duo of Mark and Craig Hinderleider worked wonders against Stone Cold Maidens 38-33 and We Love Beer 38-19.

Knuckle Draggers would notch two in the win column thanks to Bob Drake and Jim Gustafson. The pair lit up the scoreboard in their matchups versus Legion of Broom 49-38 and We Love Beer 50-49.

Jeff Housler put up another memorable performance for 12 Ounce Curls. He continued to shine in beatdowns of Curl Jam 58-32 and J-1 Auto 48-22.

Mike Dietrich and Legion of Broom responded to the initial loss with a 54-29 sweeping of Curl Jam.

Kym Eimiller and Slone Melhuish held off a late surge from Head for the Mountains 32-30.

Following that, it was Kait Benish and Curling Me Softly who put Head for the Mountains to bed 44-22.

We’ve Got the Stones found a way to get by Curling Me Softly 38-31. Brian Rossey was responsible for the victory.

Mary Bosek and Girls with Stones are on the board after shocking Slone Melhuish 34-33.

J-1 Auto was captained by Gavin Ford in their 51-37 shootout with Drunken Sliders.

Finally, David Mazzone would regroup his Drunken Sliders in a 53-47 all-time classic with We’ve Got the Stones.

STEVE CHAMBERS/JAMESTOWN HONDA WEDNESDAY 6:30 LEAGUE

Although The Brush Offs remain undefeated, they had to dig deep Wednesday night to avoid any casualties. Steve Shelters and Jenn Swanson got them through the storm against In the House 25-23 and Got Stones 30-25.

12 oz. Curlers had a clean slate as a result of Justin Swanson and Kevin Gastol. Their efforts were highly noted versus Team No Name 36-13 and Got Stones 38-30.

Cathy Panebianco picked up a win for Perfect Stones in the first game 28-17 over The Ice Men. Then, Adam Panebianco showed off his MVP-caliber skills against Curls Gone Wild 25-9.

Jason Crowell and Rolling Stones pulled away from Ice Ice Baby 26-20.

Mike Nygren and The Ice Men had no issues with Stuart Tool & Die 46-32.

Steven Ryberg was able to split the night for Curls Gone Wild by single-handedly defeating Ice Holes 27-20.

Cynthia Hunt and Ice Ice Baby slid their way to victory over Smokin’ Rocks 25-18.

Scott Mekus and Smokin’ Rocks bounced back and got by Ice Holes 30-27.

Jim Panebianco and In the House faced off in a trench battle with Stuart Tool & Die 15-12.

STEVE CHAMBERS/JAMESTOWN HONDA WEDNESDAY 7:30 LEAGUE

A tie through two weeks between 12 oz. Curlers and Barney’s Hoof Trimming.

Starting out with the Curlers, they were led by Tim Sturges and Eric Scolton over On the Rocks 37-23 along with Six Cups and a Stick 39-27.

Regarding Barney’s, Jimmy DiFonzo and Darren Anderson helped match the point total in the takedowns of HCH Interiors 41-33 and QUEST 47-23.

Still plenty of season left, however, this could make for a great race to first place.

Moving on, House Hunters played like a polished unit behind Brittany Youngberg and Alex Krajewski. The dynamic duo aided in the survival of Sub Zero 19-18 and the demolition of Ice & Easy 39-14.

Len Comella and Chip Perkins made a 180-degree turn for their Trouble Makers. They climbed to the .500 mark by bringing down Haggy Jr. 34-22 and Ice & Easy 38-36.

Mikayla Fardink kept On the Rocks toward the top of the standings by crushing Axiom 39-19.

Cliff Sleasman and Rand Machine acquired a much-needed win versus QUEST 38-33.

Capping things off with a trio of teams who put one in the win column on Wednesday night.

First up, Haggy Jr. was guided by Beth Hagglund to get past The Flinstones 36-23. Then, Mike Heath and The Flintstones upset a quality Rand Machine squad 34-14.

Last but not least, Jill Barton would lead Six Cups and a Stick to the promised land at the hands of HCH Interiors 39-34.

RYAN DEPPAS/LEGEND GROUP 4:30 FRIDAY LEAGUE

Dawn Columbare and Mike Lyons have Lions and Bears tied at the top of their division with a perfect 4-0 start, with their two victories over Ba Na Ma Na 48-37 and NAME 41-30.

Tied at the top is defending champs 2 Cups and a Curl as they bested both Curlews 46-39 and the Bemus Sliders 43-40 behind strong play from Josh Watson.

Tracy’s Dog went undefeated, on the week with two quality wins over Curl Jam 49-42 and Sweeping Beauties 38-35, as the Lucases, (Nick and Katie) led the charge for the Dog’s.

On the Rocks stayed in a tie for second place with two wins over Name 51-31 and Curlew 36-32 as Ben Whitney plowed his way to victory.

Jen Scolton got Neil’s Propane on the right track securing two wins over Frost Bitten Twice Shy 47-42 and the Bemus Boulders 40-33.

Beth Snow conquered the elements of the ice as she showed off her curling prowess by leading Sweeping Beauties to a 36-29 win over the Bemus Boulders.

Buddy Degnan showed up in a big way to lead Frost Bitten Twice Shy past Ba Na Ma Na 45-38.
