Thagard Shines For Jamestown Boys

Jamestown and Clymer/Sherman/Panama clashed in a nonleague boys track and field meet to shake off the cobwebs of the early season.

Jamestown’s Avery Thagard led the way with three victories. He took first in the pole vault at 9 feet, 6 inches, the triple jump at 39 feet, 9.5 inches and the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches.

A trio of Red & Green athletes were double winners. Noah Burch captured the long jump at 21 feet, 5 inches and the 400 meters in 50.8 seconds. Jarren Cotter won the 100 meters in 11.0 seconds and the 200 meters in 22.1 seconds. Stephen Hallburg claimed the 1,600 meters in 4:52.2 and the 3,200 meters in 10:35.5.

Clymer/Sherman/Panama’s Tony Cipolla won the shot put at 41 feet, 2 inches and was uncontested in the discus.

Five individual winners and a pair of relay victories helped Southwestern beat Randolph 78-63 in nonleague action at the Fran Sirianni Athletic Complex.

Sam Kautzman (110-meter hurdles), Declan Kennedy (400-meter hurdles), Connor Young (triple jump), Leo Kavic (shot put) and Tyler McIntyre (discus) took first in events for the Trojans.

Roan Kelly and Talon Rowland were triple winners for the Cardinals. Kelly took the 1,600 meters (5:43), 800 meters (2:05) and 3,200 meters (11:22), while Rowland claimed the 100 meters (10.8), 400 meters (50.4) and long jump (20-9).

KILMER STANDS OUT

FALCONER — Mason Kilmer was a double winner and six other Falconer/Cassadaga Valley athletes won individual events as the Golden Cougars prevailed 86-55 over Frewsburg at Bill Race Field.

Kilmer took the 110-meter hurdles (15.8) and triple jump (36-3) for the hosts.

Landon Stormer captured the 100 meters (10.9) and 200 meters (22.8), while Juvenal Diaz-Cortes claimed the 1,600 meters (5:14) and 800 meters (2:08.9) for the Bears.
