2 From JHS Named All-State
SYRACUSE — Two Post-Journal/OBSERVER All-Stars from the Jamestown High School football team have now received recognition from the New York State Sportswriters Association for their performances on the gridiron last fall.
Senior running back Carsen Bane and senior lineman Aiden Devereaux were selected honorable mention in Class AA after helping the Red & Green reach the Section VI semifinals.
The announcement was made Friday.
Bane rushed for 616 yards on 88 carries and scored 11 touchdowns despite missing time due to an injury. A Section VI Class AA First-Team All-Star as well, Bane was a stalwart on defense where he was credited with 71 tackles, including 12 for loss.
Meanwhile, Devereaux — also a Section VI Class AA First-Team all-star — helped Jamestown rush for 2,479 yards and 28 touchdowns.
The Class AA all-state team was headlined by end/linebacker Syair Torrence of Christian Brothers Academy and quarterback Rich Belin of Cardinal Hayes, who were named the co-Players of the Year by the NYSSWA.
