Portville ran away with the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 East title this spring.

Mallory Welty was a big reason why.

The Panthers senior pitcher was recently named the league’s Player of the Year and Pitcher of the year as coaches named their all-star team. Portville finished the season 17-2 overall, including a perfect 12-0 in the league.

Welty was joined on the First Team by three teammates: sophomore catcher Mattison Foster, junior shortstop/center fielder Teagan Kosinski and her sister, senior utility player Mia Welty.

Ellicottville’s Matt Finn was named the league’s Coach of the Year after guiding the Eagles to a 9-8 record, including 7-5 in the league. Ellicottville lost to Westfield in the Section VI Class D championship game.
