Strong-Butterfield Sets Two Southwestern Marks, Lewis Breaks Another

The Southwestern Trojans turned in several record-setting performances in their Chautuqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association track & field meets at Fran Sirianni Sports Complex on Tuesday.

Michael Strong-Butterfield claimed three individual events, including two in school record-setting fashion to lead the boys to a 90-51 victory over Fredonia.

Meanwhile, Emma Lewis set a school record to lead the Southwestern girls to an 80-60 victory over the Hillbillies.

Strong-Butterfield’s school marks came in the 100 meters (10.9) and 200 meters (22.1), and he also claimed the long jump (20-4). The Southwestern boys are now 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the division.

Nick Whitfield doubled for Fredonia (3-2) in the triple jump (41-2) and high jump (5-8).

Meanwhile, in the girls meet, Lewis broke the Trojans’ record in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:36.9. Teammate Erin Keppel doubled in the shot put (26-9) and discus (78-6). Southwestern is now 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the division.

THREE DOUBLE FOR F/CV BOYS

FALCONER — Devin Austin, Mathis Baehr and Collin Reil were double winners for Falconer/Cassadaga Valley in an 86-55 Division 1 boys victory over Jamestown.

Austin took the triple jump (41-8) and high jump; Baehr captured the 110-meter hurdles (17.3) and 400-meter hurdles (1:02.2); and Reil claimed the 100 meters (11.2) and 200 meters (23.2) for the Golden Cougars (5-1, 4-1).

Colin Johnson won the shot put (35-2) and discus (103-2) for the Red Raiders.

Maddie Burgess and Morgan Torrey claimed two individual wins apiece as the Jamestown girls posted a 92-42 girls victory over Falconer/Cassadaga Valley.

Burgess captured the 100 meters (13.4) and 200 meters (27.3), while Torrey was victorious in the shot put (30-0) and discus (89-11).

Sarah Elder doubled for the Golden Cougars in the 800 meters (2:48) and the triple jump (29-5).

KELLY CLAIMS THREE EVENTS

RANDOLPH — Roan Kelly won three events to lead Randolph to an 89-52 boys victory over Frewsburg.

Carson Conley and Jaiden Huntington were also double winners for the Cardinals.

Kelly captured the 1,600 meters (5:06.4), 800 meters (2:15.3) and 3,200 meters (11:01.7); Conley claimed the 110-meter hurdles (17.1) and high jump (5-4); and Huntington took the shot put (134-7) and discus (44-1).

Landon Stormer won the 100 meters (11.5) and 200 meters (22.7) for the Bears. The 200-meter time was a school record.

In the girls meet, Payton Morrison and Sydney Smith were double winners as Randolph won 85-55.

Morrison was victorious in the 100 meters (13.5) and 400 meters (1:03.3) while Smith took the 1,500 meters and 800 meters (2:43.8).

Gracie Conlan won the long jump (15-6.5) and triple jump (32-0) for the Bears.

Chautauqua Lake’s depth proved to be the difference as the Thunderbirds edged Westfield/Brocton 70-66 in girls action at Maple Grove Junior-Senior High School.

Lydia Kushmaul won the 1,500 meters (6:00.8), 800 meters (2:56.8) and 3,000 meters (13:31.1) for the Thunderbirds.

Dakota Rammelt claimed the 100-meter hurdles (17.7), 100 meters (13.6) and 200 meters (30.6); Aliyah Rivera captured the long jump (13-7) and triple jump (27-1); and Anna Sanbria took the shot put (24-10) and discus (78-5) for Westfield/Brocton.

In boys action, Chautauqua Lake defeated Westfield/Brocton 107-34.

David Speagle and Dominic Cusimano were double winners for the Thunderbirds. Speagel won the 400 meters (55.6) and long jump (19-10) while Cusimano won the 110-meter hurdles (17.5) and 400-meter hurdles (1:10.7).
