LAKEWOOD — Aidan Kennedy tossed a four-hitter and struck out eight in a complete-game effort and he received just enough offensive support as Southwestern held off Olean 2-1 in a Division 1 game.

In combination with his win in relief in the completion of a suspended game earlier in the afternoon — the Trojans won 10-9 in eight innings — they left Packard Field with a pair of victories over their league rivals.

Jayce Neal had two hits and drove in a run and Spencer Kane added an RBI single for Southwestern in the nightcap, and that was all Kennedy needed.

The Huskies’ Ethan Sumcinski and losing pitcher Railey Silvis, who scattered six hits and struck out six, both had two hits. Thomas Bates drove in the only run, that comping in the third inning.

In the completion of the suspended game, Kane’s single drove in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Kenyon Davidson collected three hits; Dustin Hendrix belted a home run and drove in two runs; and Kennedy (double), Neal, Max Marshall and Kane all had two hits. Davidson and Kane were credited with two RBIs apiece, and Lucas Gilbert, Neal and Marshall drove in one each for Southwestern (8-3, 6-2).
