Steffen Is Medalist With 36, Darien Swanson 3 Shots Back

CHAUTAUQUA — Evan Steffen of Maple Grove earned medalist honors Thursday afternoon, firing a 1-over par 36 on the Lake Course at Chautauqua Golf Club to help the Red Dragons claim three victories in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association golf action.

Teammate Cameron Crist was four shots back after shooting a 40, as the Red Dragons (11-3, 7-3) downed Fredonia (32.5-22.5), Cassadaga Valley (37-18) and Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Sherman/Panama (33-22).

Darien Swanson led the Thunderbirds (4-10, 3-8) with a 4-over 39; Ryan Kelly paced the Hillbillies (15-2, 7-1) with a 42; and Ace Pierce led Cassadaga Valley (0-13, 0-7) with a 47.

In the other matches, Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Sherman/Panama trimmed Cassadaga Valley 28.5-26.5; and Fredonia defeated Chautauqua Lake/Westfield/Sherman/Panama 29-26.

FALCONER — Coleson Barber of Falconer and Tyler Salvaggio of Jamestown shared medalist honors by shooting a 2-over 38 at Breezewood Links.

In other individual scores, Curtis Hannon shot a 39 for Falconer and Evan Maloney had a 42 for Jamestown.

As a team, the Golden Falcons (8-13, 6-7) downed the Red Raiders (11-7, 8-6) 29.5-25.5.
