Frewsburg/Falconer Captures Section VI Class C Swim Title

OLEAN — Cara Pillittieri won a pair of events and was a member of two winning relays to lead Frewsburg/Falconer to the Section VI Class C girls swimming title with 427 points Friday at Olean Middle School.

Pillittieri won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:05.27 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:41.40 while teammate Brianna Rosequist was second in the 100-yard breaststroke. Rosequist (200-yard individual medley, Emily Swan (100-yard freestyle) and Elayna Pitts (1-meter diving) each finished third in their respective events for Frewsburg/Falconer.

Tori Spacciapolli’s victories in the 200-yard individual medley (2:16.88) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.80) helped Fredonia take second place overall with 300 points. The Hillbillies won the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:50.08). The quartet consisted of Spacciapolli, Abigail Roth, Angie May and Greta Frerichs. Fredonia was also second in the 200-yard medley relay (Roth, Spacciapolli, May and Jenna Truby) and third in the 400-yard freestyle relay (Molly Greenough, Ashlynn Delcamp, Truby and Frerichs). Roth was second in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke for Fredonia.

Evelyn Montagna’s second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley helped Panama/Maple Grove/Clymer to a third-place finish overall with 235 points. Panama/Maple Grove/Clymer’s 200-yard medley relay finished third place as a team while individually Emery Watkins (100-yard butterfly) and Desiree Putt (100-yard backstroke) finished third.

Alden was fourth with 221 points, led by Skylar King’s victory in the 50-yard freestyle (26.24).

Eden was fifth with 220 points, paced by Grace Canfield’s win in the 100-yard freestyle (58.27).

Rheese Maggio captured the 1-meter diving title with 406.5 points as Southwestern/Jamestown finished fifth at the Section VI Class A meet with 165 points. Maggio’s teammate Elise Coffin was third with 366.35 points.

Southwestern/Jamestown’s Isabella Grijalva was fifth in the 50-yard freestyle (26.02).

Orchard Park won the Class A crown with 349 points followed by Clarence (275), Frontier (205) and Niagara Wheatfield (181).
