A Jamestown native has successfully tested his physical limits. … again.

Mark Cardinale, a 1987 Jamestown High School graduate, completed the Leadville 100, a 100-mile trail run through the Rocky Mountains, last month.

Cardinale, who is also a veteran of multiple Ironman triathlons, completed the Leadville 100 in 27 hours, 48 minutes, 54 seconds, to finish in 127th place. The course took him through some rugged and remote terrain, including trail climbs and descents of more than 15,700 feet with elevations ranging from 9,300 to 12,500 feet.

Cardinale and his wife, Amy, live in Parker, Colorado. They have two children.

Jenn (Stuczynski) Suhr headlines a group of 10 people who will be inducted into the Section VI Hall of Fame Class of 2021 later this year.

A standout in soccer, basketball and golf at Fredonia High School, Suhr didn’t take up track and field until her senior year, where she won the 2000 New York State Public High School Athletic Association pentathlon title.

Suhr, a 2009 Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame inductee, was just getting started, ultimately becoming an Olympic gold and silver medalist and multitime national champion and former world record holder in the pole vault.

Among the local coaches to be inducted are Mary Neilon (Ellicottville) and Peter Weishan (Salamanca). Weishan also served as an athletic director.

Salamanca boys basketball coach Adam Bennett and Maple Grove softball coach Rebecca Allen were among the 16 coaches and an athletic trainer who were recognized.
