Jayhawks Women’s Soccer Team Falls 3-1 To Finger Lakes CC

CANANDAIGUA — Looking to get back in the win column, the Jamestown Community College women’s soccer team gave up two goals in the second half to fall to Finger Lakes Community College 3-1 Wednesday afternoon.

The Jayhawks (1-4) fell behind early in the 19th minute with the Lakers getting on the board first. JCC knotted the game up at 1-1 in the 31st minute with freshman midfielder Jaclyn Bush (Jamestown/Jamestown HS).

FLCC was able to pull away in the second half, scoring two goals to put the game away.

Freshman goalkeeper Lizzie Gordon (Corry, PA/Corry Area HS) earned the loss in net, making 23 saves on the day.

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Saturday, September 18th, as they host Corning Community College at 12 p.m.

HERKIMER CC WINS 6-1

HERKIMER — The JCC women’s soccer team was dealt a 6-1 NJCAA Region 3 loss by Herkimer Community College on Saturday.

The Jayhawks were shorthanded on the weekend and matters were made worse when injury forced the Jayhawks to play with nine players. Lizzie Gordon answered the call in net, making 16 saves for the Jayhawks. Emma Fox was the lone goal scorer and Holland Isaacson was credited with the assist.

JAYHAWKS FALL IN OT

HUDSON VALLEY — The JCC women’s soccer team fell in overtime of a NJCAA Region 3 game on Sunday against Hudson Valley Community College.

Once again the Jayhawks were shorthanded on Sunday, playing with just 10 players. Even while shorthanded the Jayhawks managed to press the game to overtime thanks to a late 75th minute goal from Jaclyn Bush on a breakaway assisted by Yuribeth Castro.

Lizzie Gordon played a huge role in the overtime outcome as she recorded 18 saves in the contest.

“It was the second game in two days the girls were playing short handed,” stated coach Tyler Beaton. “They fought hard and played really, really well. It was a very courageous effort, inspirational stuff.”

MEN BLANKED 6-0

CANANDAIGUA — The Jamestown Community College men’s soccer team fell short against Finger Lakes Community College in a 6-0 loss Wednesday evening.

The Jayhawks (1-3) had 10 shots on goal with sophomore forward Ryan Koch (Aukland, New Zealand/Long Bay College) leading the way with two shots on goal.

The Lakers jumped out two a quick 4-0 lead in the first half of action while adding two goals in the second half.

Freshman goalkeeper Bryan Anderson (Ashville/Chautauqua Lake Central) earned the loss in net while making nine saves.

JCC will be back in action this Sunday, September 19th, as they take on Niagara County Community College at home at 3 p.m.

JCC SPLITS WEEKEND

HUDSON VALLEY — The JCC Jayhawks men’s soccer team nabbed its first NJCAA Region 3 win of the season on Sunday, defeating Hudson Valley Community College 5-1.

The Jayhawks trailed 1-0 at halftime, but woke up in the second to score five times. Tholo Malebo found the back of the net twice, as did Ethan Richardson and George Glover scored another. Byran Anderson stood strong in net with five saves in the victory.

The Jayhawks are back in action on Wednesday at Finger Lakes Community College.

HERKIMER CC

WINS ON OWN GOAL

HERKIMER — The JCC Jayhawks men’s soccer team fell to Herkimer Community College on Saturday by a score of 4-1.

The game was tied at 1-1 through 80 minutes, with the Jayhawks goal coming from George Glover. Things fell apart after an own goal at the 80th minute that was followed up by two more tallies to lose 4-1.

Bryan Anderson made eight saves in the game for the Jayhawks.
