Ellicottville Dominates Second Half

ELLICOTTVILLE — Leif Jimerson and Clayton Rowland combined for 23 points in the second half as Ellicottville rallied for a 47-34 nonleague win over Silver Creek.

The Black Knights (2-3) led 21-18 at halftime, but a 16-7 third quarter in favor of the Eagles (4-0) turned the game around.

“I think we were settling for some outside shots early on,” Ellicottville coach Dave McCann said. “We went into halftime shooting about 20 percent.”

During the 29-13 second half, Ellicottville got to the free throw line 14 times. For the game, McCann’s team shot 15 of 22 from the charity stripe while Silver Creek was just 4 of 11.

“In the second half we attacked the basket a little bit more,” McCann said. “Collectively, we just played better in the second half.”

Jimerson finished with 21 points and five steals while Rowland had 11 points, 12 rebounds and five steals. Jordan Grinols handed out four assists in the victory.

Dominic Jamison led the Black Knights with 16 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
