ORCHARD PARK — Cameron Barmore is one of the best all-around athletes in Western New York.

He put that on display for all to see Saturday afternoon.

The 6-foot-5 senior caught TD passes of 67 and 69 yards from Gerrit Hinsdale and John Swabik respectively to lift second-seeded Clymer/Sherman/Panama to a dominant, 22-0, victory over No. 1 Franklinville/Ellicottville in the Section VI Class D championship football game at New Era Field.

The win raised the Wolfpack’s record to 8-1 and vaulted them into the Far West Regional at 5 p.m. next Friday against Section V Batavia at SUNY Brockport as they continue their pursuit of their second straight New York State Public High School Athletic Association title. The Titans, who defeated C/S/P, 24-6, in Week Three, end their season 8-1.

Barmore was the X factor.

How good was he?

Well, he turned a slant pass from Hinsdale on the game’s third play into a 67-yard touchdown; made a great adjustment on Swabik’s halfback pass in the third quarter for a game-changing 69-yard TD; made three initial tackles and five assisted stops; and had one sack.

Judging from the way his afternoon went, Barmore might have belted out a Grammy-worthy, solo rendition of “The Bear Went Over the Mountain,” the Wolfpack’s traditional end-of-game celebratory song.

There was plenty to celebrate for the merged team from Chautauqua County.

A year removed from its state championship run, Clymer/Sherman/Panama played its best game of the season, limiting the Titans to 143 yards in total offense, including just 51 on the ground on 33 attempts.

Talented junior quarterback Logan Frank who was the best player on the field in Franklinville/Ellicottville’s win over the Wolfpack in September, was held in check by an inspired defensive effort drawn up by Clymer/Sherman/Panama assistant coach Chris Payne.

All told, Frank completed 8 of 19 passes for 92 yards; was sacked five times, including twice by Keith Gormley; and was intercepted once by Swabik. It didn’t help the Titans that Frank appeared to suffer a leg injury early in the third quarter when the game was still in doubt (Clymer/Sherman/Panama led, 6-0, at intermission). Although he missed only a few plays, he was clearly hobbled the rest of the way.

For good measure, Connor Cooper tacked on a 1-yard plunge with 7:17 remaining, making it a three-score game. Given the way the Wolfpack’s defense was playing, the outcome was never in doubt after that.

NOTES: Hinsdale completed 5 of 9 passes for 96 yards; Swabik’s only attempt went for the 69-yard TD to Barmore; and Barmore’s two receptions for TDs were good for 136 yards. … Cooper led Clymer/Sherman/Panama’s rushing attack with 64 yards on 12 carries. … Defensively, Swabik had two solo tackles and nine assists; and Alex Dunnewold had one solo tackle and 11 assists. … Braden Cook caught a 2-point conversion pass from Hinsdale. Hinsdale also tossed a conversion pass to Zavon Overton. … For the Titans, Jordan Grinols rushed for 41 yards on 11 carries, and Niclas Logel caught four passes for 63 yards. … Defensively, Franklinville/Ellicottville was led by Zack Wolfer with seven solo tackles, four assists and a sack.
