Swanson’s Goal Stands Up, Westfield/Brocton Wins, 1-0

FREWSBURG — Darien Swanson headed in a goal off a throw-in from teammate Nathan Culbreth in the first half, and Westfield/Brocton held off Frewsburg, 1-0, in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Central Division boys soccer game Wednesday at the Robert H. Jackson Sports Complex.

Caleb Carr was in goal for the Bears (2-5-1, 2-2).

Westfield/Brocton improves to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in the division.

DRAGONS BREEZE

Host Maple Grove (8-0, 3-0) was a 6-0 winner over Pine Valley (2-6, 1-3) in CCAA Central Division soccer action on Wednesday.

Porter DeMink grabbed the first two goals of the day and Caleb Foley the last two, while single tallies came from Eli Moore and Paul Maigne. Tristan Spillane had a pair of assists, while Marshall Cresanti and Kevin Ruhlman each had one.

Sam Cummings made one save in the win and Owen Ward stopped nine balls for Pine Valley.

SALAMANCA/C-LV PREVAILS

Salamanca/Cattaraugus-Little Valley (5-3, 1-2) was a 2-1 winner over Portville (2-4-1, 0-2) in CCAA East Division play.

Kohl Ambuske and Justin Blakeslee scored for the winners, on assists by Darec Funke and Neland Cummings respectively.

Nick Harmon scored the goal for Portville. Jarrett Pond made four saves in the win while Tyler Robinson and Cody Perkins combined for two saves in net for Portville.

CARDS PREVAIL

RANDOLPH — Randolph is now 4-3 overall and 1-1 in CCAA East Division play after a 4-1 win over Ellicottville (5-3, 2-1).

Ty Rosengren had a goal and three assists, Marcus Evans added two goals while Kaleb Steward added a goal and an assist in the win.

Jack Snyder tallied the only goal for the visitors on a pass by Adrian DeOrbe.

Kameron Finch made four saves for Randolph and Justin Imhoff made nine saves for Ellicottville.
