MAYVILLE — Ryan Stimson scored the eventual winning run on a dropped fly ball as Falconer beat Chautauqua Lake, 1-0, in eight innings of Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West action Monday.
Stimson led off the top of the eighth inning with a walk and moved up when Bobby Samuelson was hit by a pitch with two outs before eventually scoring the winning run.
Both starting pitchers kept the game scoreless into extra innings.
Chautauqua Lake’s Kyler Majka went 6 1/3 innings, striking out 11 while allowing five hits. Cody Triana threw 1 2/3 innings, allowing the lone unearned run.
“Kyler was excellent again tonight. He always gives us a chance to win when he’s on the mound. We feed off his energy and confidence,” Chautauqua Lake coach Bryan Bongiovanni said. “Cody Triana came in with the game on the line and pitched very well. That’s not an easy situation to be in.”

Ben Schrader went 6 2/3 innings, striking out eight while allowing three hits for the Golden Falcons.
Mark Wilcox got the final four outs for Falconer, striking out one.
“We’ve played five league games and lost three of them by one run in extra innings,” Bongiovanni said. “We have to stop beating ourselves and start doing the little things well. Those habits are formed in practice. Everyone has to hold themselves accountable and stick together.”
