YMCA’s Brunacini Falls At 125 Pounds
Three members of the YMCA Boxing Club were hoping to be in action at the Flare Center Boxing in Buffalo on Saturday, but only 14-year-old Josh Brunacini of Jamestown was able to step into the ring.
Brunacini lost a hard-fought decision to Christopher Hughes of St. Catherines, Ontario at 125 pounds.
Defending New York State Golden Gloves champion Tony Torres Jr. was scheduled for a tune-up bout in preparation for his second-round of competition at the Riverworks in Buffalo on March 24. Unfortunately his opponent was a no-show, forcing a cancellation of the match.
Hector Folch was also scheduled for a Saturday bout at 135 pounds, but was stricken with the flu and forced to withdraw.
