Panama Softball Scores 4 In 7th To Defeat Frewsburg 7-6

PANAMA — Kiera Loberg’s single with the bases loaded scored Emma Cooper with the winning run to cap a four-run seventh inning to send Panama to a 7-6 victory over Frewsburg in a Division 2 West softball game Friday.

Corinne Hovey (three stolen bases), Cooper and Cassie Lyon all had two hits for the Panthers (2-1, 1-1) in support of winning pitcher Jess Lyon, who tossed a seven-hitter, struck out two and walked four.

Ava Reale had two hits for the Bears (2-3, 1-3), who had Teghan Trocki and Teagan Nazario share the pitching duties.

WOLVES ROLL COUGARS

SHERMAN — Clymer/Sherman gave up just one hit and the bats stayed hot as the Wolves rolled the Cougars 11-3 in Division 2 West action.

Janelle Burchanowski knocked in 3 RBIs for Clymer/Sherman going 2 for 3 with a double, a walk and three runs scored. Lily Martin added another double going 2 for 4 with an RBI, Kelsey Wagner hit a double going 1 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI, Olivia Maleski went 2 for 4 with a RBI and Natalie White hit an RBI.

Elli Bodamer led the Wolves in the circle, giving up just one hit and one earned run while striking out five and walking five.

Andrea Johnson had the lone hit for the Cougars, Faith McVey scored twice and Denza Fanara scored the other run. Catie Russell had three strikeouts for Cassadaga Valley (1-3, 0-3) in three innings of work.

Clymer/Sherman (2-1, 2-1) is back in action today against another league opponent hosting Westfield in Sherman at 11 a.m.

“We are very pleased with the quick progress this team has made,” Clymer/Sherman head coach Dave Bodamer stated. “We give Cassadaga a lot of credit. They never quit and fought all the way. Tomorrow we host Westfield and that will be a very good barometer for us to see where we are this early in the season. They are still a very good team that is solid everywhere.”

COMBINED NO-HITTER FOR FREDONIA

Jordan Lucas and Danielle Palisin combined on a five-inning no-hitter as Fredonia shut out Jamestown 14-0 in Division 1 West play at the Martin Road Athletic Complex.

Lucas struck out eight over the first three innings, allowing just one runner to reach on an error. Palisin struck out four and walked one in the final two innings.

The Hillbillies (4-0, 3-0) led 7-0 before they even took the field. Palisin reached on a one-out error, Callie Draggett doubled, Jaelyn Davis singled and Cassie Kramer singled to open the game. After their second out, Naomi Muck, Rihanna Benner, Leah Marsh and Maddie Ambrose all had hits.

Fredonia then added four more runs in the second inning to lead 11-0.

Muck finished 3 for 4 with a run scored; Draggett was 2 for 3 with a double; Ambrose was 2 for 3; and Davis and Kramer were both 2 for 4. Palisin, Draggett, Davis, Kramer and Sophia Gullo each scored two runs.

The Red & Green fell to 0-4 overall and in the league.
