Ellicottville Edges Frewsburg In Double-Overtime

ELLICOTTVILLE — Nik Logel made his only field goal count.

The 6-foot-3 junior took a pass from Clayton Rowland and laid the ball in with five seconds remaining to send Ellicottville to a 55-53 nonleague double-overtime basketball victory over Frewsburg on Thursday night.

The decisive play came after a scramble for a loose ball. Frewsburg got off a shot as the buzzer sounded, but it was off the mark.

The Eagles (2-2) were accustomed to drama on this night as Leif Jimerson drained three free throws with 1.1 seconds remaining in the first overtime to extend the game another four minutes. Jimerson was able to get to the charity stripe when he was fouled attempting a 3-pointer.

Jimerson finished with 25 points, five rebounds and four assists; and Rowland had 15 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Their efforts overshadowed a brilliant game game by the Bears’ Quinn Conlan, who poured in 31 points — 21 after intermission — and hauled in 15 rebounds.

The loss dropped Frewsburg to 1-1.
