Olean Leaves Little To Chance In Falconer

FALCONER — Olean scored three times in the opening six minutes and Calista Heister finished with a hat trick as the Huskies beat Falconer, 6-2, in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association West Division girls soccer Monday.

Justine Brooks opened the scoring from Alexis Gibbons in the second minute before Heister scored back-to-back unassisted goals in the fourth and sixth minutes for Olean (4-1, 2-0).

Heister completed her hat trick with her 13th goal of the season in the 23rd minute from Reagan Stitt.

In the second half, Stitt scored from Heister and Lauryn Washington also scored from Heister.

Lauralin Destro scored from Izzy Penhollow before Penhollow scored on a penalty kick for the Golden Falcons (3-2, 1-1).

Kayla O’Connor made eight saves in net for the Huskies.

Grace Lundmark made seven saves for Falconer.

JOHNSON SAVES VICTORY

Southwestern goalkeeper Hanna Johnson came up with a huge save at the right time, getting a piece of a breakaway shot by Fredonia’s Laural Erick in the closing minute of play to maintain a shutout as the Trojans picked up a 1-0 West Division win.

Southwestern (3-1, 1-0) earned its first league victory thanks to a goal by Ashley Lundmark 10 minutes into the second half with Kylie Brown grabbing the assist.

Johnson finished with four saves while Kelly Gullo stopped 10 shots for the Hillbillies (1-4, 0-1).

Southwestern was a 4-0 winner in JV action.

BLACK KNIGHTS CRUISE

SILVER CREEK — Chloe Barrett and Jaylah Cossin each scored twice as Silver Creek beat Pine Valley, 10-0, in Central Division action.

Barrett scored from Cossin in the ninth minute, Emma Rice scored from Barret in the 27th minute, Carly Barrett scored from Jaylah Cossin in the 32nd minute and Cossin scored from Rice in the 38th minute as the Black Knights (5-0, 2-0) led 4-0 at halftime.

In the first minute of the second half, Chloe Barrett scored from Olivia Zbytek before Cossin scored from Chloe Barrett in the second minute. Jade Bouvier followed with a goal from Carly Barrett, Cindy Schwab scored from Bouvier, Jenna Miller tallied from Rice and Kristen Wielgasz scored unassisted.

The Panthers (0-4, 0-2) did not record a shot on goal.

WESTFIELD EARNS BIG WIN

WESTFIELD — Juli Smith scored the lone goal in overtime from Heather Johnston as Westfield knocked off North Collins, 1-0, in Central Division play.

Angel Bush made 13 saves in the shutout for the Wolverines (2-2, 1-0).

HILL SCORES TWICE

SALAMANCA — Aly Hill had two goals and an assist to lead Salamanca to a 5-0 win over Christian Central Academy in non-league play.

Hill scored from Rachel Chamberlain, Ryleigh John scored from Hill and Marla Warrior scored from Chamberlain in the first half for the Warriors (2-4, 0-1 CCAA East).

After the break, Hill scored from Emma Fiske and Rhayne Smith scored unassisted.

Alexis Palmeri made two saves in the shutout.

INDIANS OUTSCORE RED RAIDERS

West Seneca West snuck by host Jamestown in Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 action with a 5-3 win at the Martin Road Complex.

Casey Gehen had a pair of goals while single tallies came from Kaitlyn Morris, Emily Jaworski and Hailey Hicks for the Indians (1-4, 1-4).

Macey Lundmark led the Red Raiders (0-3-1, 0-3) offense with two goals while Alexa Swanson had one.

Gioconda Calamunci made 14 saves in the loss.
