Cattaraugus-Little Valley’s senior Gostomski sisters left their mark on the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Track & Field Championships on Friday evening at Southwestern’s Fran Sirianni Athletic Complex.

Abby Gostomski won the 800 meters in 2:17.58 while Bailey Gostomski won the 3,000 meters in 10:45.14, more than 10 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

Falconer/Cassadaga Valley junior Rachael Ward won the pole vault, reaching 11 meters in fewer attempts than Salamanca junior Mushirah Sheppard.

Ward’s Golden Cougars sophomore teammate Samantha Gilbert won the triple jump with a distance of 34 feet, 3 inches, more than a foot longer than Bailey Gostomski in second place.

Franklinville/Ellicottville/West Valley senior Rena Riley won the shot put with a toss of 35 feet, 3.75 inches.

On the boys side, Maple Grove senior Michael Peppy won the 800 meters in 2:00.69 while Southwestern sophomore Dagon Bryant won the 3,200 meters in 10:15.40.

Clymer/Sherman/Panama sophomore Cameron Barmore won the high jump at a height of 6 feet.

Olean senior Nick Decerbo won the long jump at 20 feet and a half-inch while Allegany-Limestone senior Michael Nye beat junior teammate Patrick Walsh in the discus. Nye’s heave of 131 feet beat Walsh by more than 2 feet.

Action resumes today at 11 a.m.
